The question is not, "Can they reason?" nor, "Can they talk?" but rather, "Can they suffer?"
We have enslaved the rest of the animal creation, and have treated our distant cousins in fur and feathers so badly that beyond doubt, if they were able to formulate a religion, they would depict the Devil in human form. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Taken in Sri Lanka . This summer when i went on holiday.. This shot was taken in a place where they hold elephants for a circus --------------------------------------------------------------------- Featured : [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] Also featured on this website [link] run by ~MuffinsIsMyLoverMuffinsIsMyLover for stopping animal cruelty . © Panduka Ekanayake ![]() --------------------------------------------------------------------- Omg omg omg a DD !! And many many thanks to ^estudio for the feature and all of who suggested it Daily DeviationGiven 2009-11-13I have received at least 6 suggestions for this image. An excerpt of one suggester who wrote, "I feel that this artist has captured a moment that many of us humans seems to forget and take granted of. We as humans capture animals for are gain and leave them to die. Large multitudes of animals are captured every year for circuses and other events. The fact that the elephant is in chains completes the whole image, the hand reaching out diffidently shows that we as human can put a stop to this which in turn gives us hope as well." Reaching for H E L P by =panduka56 Commentsits sad but its true. damn sad, i see it everyday on the streets, cats or dogs killed and left on the road, i believe that if it were a human they would do exactly the same, hit and run. anyway, if animals could revenge they would treat us bad. human being is so naturally stupid.

It think this photo is realy symobolic,
it hurts me to see cratures behind bars because of humans selfish ways.
it my be a world of peace but in the animals eyes it's a battle to survive the rough reality of human nature
pretty sad in my opinion.
However the vibe i get from this is good because there are people out there who do care for animals.
i personly see more to a animal than a peice of meat.
Overall, this photo is beutifuly taken.
stunning work
This is...very depressing, the look of the elephant's eyes as they stare, while it's trunk reaches out tenderly for the hand of would be savior or would be monster in angel's garb.
Also, the usage of black and white was genius, it really captures the feeling of sorrow and makes light that much more easy to see in the dark, very poetic in this regard.
In the end, not much to hate save the feeling of sadness this piece gives you, but like pandora's box, though there were evils of terrible might locked away within it's prison, there was also the light of the youngest of virtues: Hope.
